Banh Mi 25: Delicious and Customizable Sandwiches

Banh Mi 25 is a small but cozy restaurant located in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. Banh Mi sandwiches are a bit more expensive than you’ll find at the street stalls located throughout the city, but you’ll appreciate knowing exactly what you’re getting here. Plus every sandwich is completely customizable with yummy add-ons like avocado and cheese.

While this isn’t necessarily where the locals go for lunch, it is quite popular with foreigners and tourists. And it happens to be our favorite spot for Banh Mis in the city of Hanoi!

The Ambiance

As mentioned, Bahn Mi 25 is quite small with just one large, central table and several other 2-tops on the surrounding walls. Several small tables also spill out onto the sidewalk out front.

The front of the restaurant is completely open so don’t expect to escape the heat of Hanoi here. But a few fans around the restaurant will help to keep you comfortable.

The servers at Bahn Mi 25 are fast, efficient, and speak very good English.

The Menu

At Banh Mi 25 you’ll find a wide range of sandwich offerings. You can choose a sandwich with pork, chicken, beef, or opt for only vegetables. And they aren’t your standard sandwiches, with options like Stuffed Tofu with Pork and Tomato Sauce, Honey Grilled Chicken with Avocado, and King Oyster Mushroom with Spicy Sweet Sauce.

You can also completely customize your Banh Mi by adding cheese, egg, pate, barbecue pork, jambon, chicken, tofu, mushroom, or avocado for a small fee.

They’ll also confirm ahead of time that you wand all of the pickled vegetables and coriander included on your sandwich. Which is ideal for any cilantro-haters like me!

And to accompany your sandwich, Banh Mi 25 also offers super fresh juices and smoothies as well as yummy coffee concoctions at totally reasonable prices.

The Pricetag

Sandwiches at Banh Mi 25 range in price from 20,000 VND – 40,000 VND (so all under $2 USD) and the add-ons are 5,000 – 10,000 VND. Juices and smoothies range from 25,000 – 40,000 VND and you can get a delicious iced coffee (Bac Xiu) for only 25,000 (~$1 USD).

Our Recommendation

We almost always get the same things when we visit Banh Mi 25 because they are so good! A King Oyster Mushroom with Spicy Sweet Sauce add cheese and avocado for Val with a passion fruit juice on the side. And a Honey Grilled Chicken with Avocado add cheese with a Bac Xiu coffee on the side for Nick.

But trust us, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu at Banh Mi 25!
